Kinds of authority

Member-state regulator

A national regulator in an EU country that supervises and enforces EU legislation locally, alongside national law.

Overview

Every EU member state maintains domestic regulators that enforce European legislation within its borders, such as BaFin, BNetzA and the BfDI in Germany, the AMF, CNIL and ARCEP in France, the DPC in Ireland, CONSOB and the Garante in Italy, and the AEPD in Spain.

It connects most directly to Supranational regulator, European Union, Federal Financial Supervisory Authority and Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés.

Check the official sources below for legal scope, applicable dates and exceptions. This entry is an explanatory reference, not legal advice.
