Stablecoin
A crypto asset designed to hold a stable value, usually against a fiat currency, regulated under MiCA, the GENIUS Act and state regimes.
Overview
Stablecoins backed by fiat reserves are regulated as e-money tokens under MiCA in the EU and as payment stablecoins under the GENIUS Act in the US, with state regimes such as New York’s also applying. Rules focus on reserve composition, segregation, redemption at par, disclosures and AML.
