RegTech

Regulatory technology: the use of software, data and AI to meet regulatory requirements more efficiently and effectively than manual processes.

Overview

The term was popularised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority around 2015 to describe technology that helps firms deliver regulatory requirements more efficiently and effectively than existing capabilities.

RegTech spans regulatory change monitoring, obligation management, control testing, transaction monitoring, identity verification, reporting and evidence management. Newer RegTech is event-driven and API-first, in contrast to the static registers of legacy GRC software.

It connects most directly to SupTech, GRC and Regulatory change management.
